For the past two years, young Americans say they drank a cup of gourmet coffee within their day, according to the National Coffee Drinking Trends 2011 report.
It begs the question, then, with tendencies shifting towards gourmet and really enjoying the experience: what is a high-grade, gourmet coffee and what’s the difference around the world?

There are four types of coffees: arabica, robusta, liberica and the sublime. Within these four types you can find a host of different species that we will mention later. Of these four types, the first two are the most important:

Coffee Futures Chart = Cover & Go Long

Arabica coffee futures just reached the technical destination we have been waiting for to cover our shorts.
It has reached the Andrew's Pitchfork Median Line and also the Fibonacci 61.8 % retracement.
There is bullish divergence on the 240 minute chart and the RSI is oversold on this time frame.
There should be a technical rebound from this area.  Initially, look for the 15 minute chart RSI to rise up to 50. If it crosses above that level,  then look for the 30 minute chart RSI to rise up to 50.

Rising prices and smaller cups leave a bitter taste for coffee lovers - The National

ACoffee shops' profits continue to be hammered by the rising cost of beans globally, which is bad news for customers. ( Delores Johnson / The National )
Coffee shops across the Emirates are considering increasing prices or changing the size of their cups, as profits continue to be ground down by the rising price of beans globally.
"It looks like in the next two quarters there will be a price increase because we cannot suffer these costs increases anymore," said Caner Gursoy, operations manager for Brook Foods, the franchisee for Gloria Jeans in the UAE.
Mr Gursoy said the price of Arabica beans had increased at a rate of about 16 per cent every six months for the past three years and that, reluctantly, some of this increase would now have to be passed on to the consumer.
The price of a basket of different coffee beans has risen 35 per cent in the past year, according to the International Coffee Organisation.
